The beauty (and downfall at the same time) of Aeroplan is that you never actually have to fly Air Canada (or fly at all) to accumulate the points easily.
When spend on non-scamchargeable business cabins for longhaul trips, Aeroplan can be tremendous value, given the ease of manufacturing points without flying.
Agree. I usually book UA flights and the tax and fees are very low. I also use the miles for some economy seats and I can still get 2 cents/mile.
