All of their competitors will know the yields on routes, know AC's Rouge cost structure and can likely predict pretty easily which are next on AC's hit list, or, to put it another way, I'm quite sure the Rougification of YVR-SFO & YVR-LAX did not come as a surprise to AS.
Furthermore, even if AC did announce the Rougification of YVR-LHR starting in June of 2015 it's not like Transat would radically rejig their product in the next 11 months to deal with this.
So this is a red herring. The Rouging of mainline routes should be announced a year in advance.
...and it is not a 'ridiculous expectation' when AC sells a product a year in advance.
