Hold on, stop spreading misinformation. Tickets are purchased for a name. If the ticket is purchased with the correct name and DOB of the flying person, this is completely OK with all regulations. The only issue is if you use a Skymiles number of someone else, Delta might not like it. There is no crime being committed here, and ZERO chance of arrest.

COMPLETELY different scenario. This is using a false ID.

There is no real chance of this. How would DL find out and stop him from flying? He has a legal ticket. Any punishment would involve Skymiles accounts, not denied boarding.

This is just silly. TSA does not cross reference the DOB info to their license/ID check. I know because I have never put my real DOB on my secure flight info since they implemented the policy. I put random dates in (same year) most flights. The purpose of the DOB is to cross reference a do-not-fly list, which is equally silly because anyone on that list would choose a different DOB anyway. It's a joke really and I treat it as such.

False. Unless you think a Skymiles account audit is 'expensive and long lasting'

Yes, they do. You can do it online.

Wrong, you can change it online, it is not tied to your Skymiles account, in fact you can specificaly ask Delta not to track this information, you just have to enter it every time you book. It is only stored for convenience sake, and yes it is easily changed.
Excellent post...well said. Bravo!
