Not many gates compared to major airports, but also not lots of space in the terminal for passengers from lots of diverted large planes to sit, not a lot of trained staff to rebook tickets and/or issue vouchers, etc., not a lot of capacity in restaurants/bars or restrooms, etc. Often diversions mean long waits.
