All,
I have just completed the International to Domestic transfer at the new T2 airport (Transferring from Virgin Atlantic (LHR to BOM) to Jet Airways (BOM to BHJ) in Mumbai. It was fast and not very difficult. Below are my tips and points to note when doing this:
1. At T2 international airport: collect your luggage and after clearing customs, give your custom declaration form to the man waiting at the exit door. Thereafter, Do NOT proceed to walk through the exit door...instead turn LEFT and look up...you will see a 'Domestic Transfers' sign and follow that sign.
2. Walk to either the Jet-Airways or Air-India domestic counters and CHECK-IN your luggage.
3. With your domestic boarding pass in your hand proceed to the inter-transfer bus (a 2min walk down the stairs and pass 2-3 security checks) with your hand luggage.
4. Get on the bus and then get off the bus when the bus stops at domestic Terminal 1B (for jet airways passengers). Stay on the bus if you travelling on Air-India (Terminal 1A)...the bus driver and staff will tell you if you need to get off anyway.
5. If you arrive early in the morning...then you will need to wait for the security check counter to open. Once it does...then you can sit inside and wait for your flight.
