How likely is it to open up? And when should I check back? Honestly, the music on hold gets so annoying after 40 minutes to an hour, although they are very nice when they finally answer.
What would you do if you HAD to be there a few days earlier? Pay full price?
It is up to Are Lingus to release award inventory. I'm not sure they do release extra, and limit it to 2 seats per flight.
You have between a 0% and 100% chance inclusive of seats opening up, however I would expect it to be in the low end. If you want certainty, book what is available now (either award or cash).
If you must travel earlier, then cancel your current booking and look for other options. Aer Lingus, or BA, AA, US, AB, IB award flights, or cash fares.
