I have done this at several properties, but have a bag with clothing that stays in Seattle between my stays (frequently 1-2 weeks). The bellmen know me and I tip them well. Lets me travel a lot lighter, particularly since I'm going transcon/international. Never had any problems, but I don't stock the bag with valuables.
