Also, we have a 4 PM flight. Does AC have a maximum time they will check luggage in at as we will be trying to do a same day confirmed change at the airport to an 1130 flight. My understanding is they will not check luggage more than 4 hours before the confirmed departure and we would have to be confirmed on the earlier flight for them to check our luggage.

For AC checkin process you will have completed the same day confirmed change prior to handing over your luggage. If you are trying for the 11:30 flight you will have to be at the airport by 10am. The risk is that you do not get onto the earlier flight, in which case you will have to deal with your bags until the regular flight is ready to begin accepting bags. For the record, AC domestic will accept bags 4 hours prior to flight time.
