I do understand belynch's point. There are many times I board and my laptop battery is below half, or I just haven't had a chance to charge my ipad beyond the 30-40% it's currently at. Or I've been on my phone for the last hour and the battery is on its last legs.
Many of the statements above (my laptop can last 6+ hours, etc) assume a full charge. That's not always realistic.
I use the monster version; sometimes it's nice to have a (very short) cable attached, especially in hotel rooms. But I would expect each socket to have a circuit breaker and wonder how much power is supplied to each seat. Likely not enough for my laptop alone (165 watts).
I carry a separate small backup charger for my phone. Has enough juice for two full charges, with a 2amp charge rate so it's very, very fast. Made by Neptor; $39.99 at Frys.
