I'm ready to be flamed as an "AC apologist", but really people, what should they have done? And the answers "not start Rouge in the first place, or retain 32" pitch on the aircraft" are not legitimate suggestions. Businesses have the right to change their business model, and the way the NA industry is heading makes Rouge seem like the best model at this time.
There will always be people who have bought ahead, and won't be happy with the change, but from the perspective of AC, the vast majority of the flyers either won't notice or won't care. For those that will, AC is letting people back out of their purchase decision. What else should they do, or have done? And don't even bother suggesting rebooking them on an airline of the traveler's choice (i.e WJ, UA or whoever), or saying at the time of reservation that "we MAY move this route to Rouge". Perhaps in Narnia that might work, but here in the real world, it's never going to happen.
Maybe instead of the kneejerk reaction that AC is the worst airline in the world, stop and think for a second about the business realities. Or, if you are seriously that incensed about it, then take your business elsewhere.

The strident whining about service on AC is getting ridiculous.
Don't fly AC if you are unhappy. You do usually have a choice.
