Have you gone to
https://www.checkmytrip.com/ to confirm you currently have no seat assignment? If seats have already been assign, the AB website will not let you change them (the one-time opportunity I mentioned earlier).
Not sure if OW Silver gets free seat assignment dependent on fare.
