So, I noticed this
article from WSJ, referenced in this Delta
thread.
The top airlines for seat redemptions that are global and part of an alliance, all seem to be in Star Alliance (Singapore, Turkish, Lufthansa/Swiss), all above Air Canada. Would it be better to completely ditch my Aeroplan and just sign up with Singapore KrisFlyer or Turkish Airlines' Miles & Smiles? The only downside is churning will be more restricted if I move away from Aeroplan (I'm not sure if Amex points can be ported over to these two, didn't find any). While admittedly, this is a survey of potentially disgruntled flyers, and not at all scientific, would this be a potentially prudent idea if seat redemption is something that is important to me?
