I have flown business class on Lufthansa and got away with it. I flew economy class on Aer Lingus, and got away with it. I flew business on Aer Lingus and got away with it.
It seems the stewardess treat you different if you are in business. The size almost did not seem to matter to Lufthansa (in biz). I will grab pics in a few.

*Edit - Turns out I have an Osprey Farpoint 70! This is the exact pack in the video below. An almost 9 minute video detailing it. It really is probably the most technically advanced backpack I could imagine. Very thoughtfully designed. I would describe it as the perfect backcountry/international backpacker pack......
