I was speaking about United in particular, but on these types of service applications, "they" should be everyone. It tends to really irritate the large population that has one device or the other that isn't just yet supported, with a sentiment of "Finally! They are so slow" instead of being happy for the new features that have been rolled out. If that means delaying the launch of one platform to wait for another, so be it.
Unfortunately, you can't make everyone happy. At least they did actually previously state in their PR what to expect: that it would be rolling out initially on Apple idevices (as well as any laptop) and that Android would be added later.
