On a flight to AMS last weekend I was upgraded to CE but declined as I was travelling with the family (on a different booking reservation).

The BA agent told me very nicely: oh well we'll make sure to upgrade you the next time when you fly alone..

Obviously did not take that comment seriously and also did not see why a freebie should be postponed because I can't take it now but then on Tuesday flying to JFK alone, I did get upgraded from CW to F.

Is this pure coincidence or is this planned? Still not sure I get the upgrade tool
