But in this scenario I will need to ask you to remove your bag, and then ask another solo traveler occupying a pair of chairs to move to the seat next to you. Whereas had you bag not been on the other chair that other solo traveller could have picked the seat next to you from the start leaving a pair of chairs for couples.

Who said anything about it being anywhere else but my own seat? Usually it is on top of my trolley anyway.
