Overall I love starwood hotels, and I have given up the chances of staying all other hotels because of my lifetime SPG platinum intention.
I booked prepaid rate in Westin Diplomat Resort couple of months ago, the price recently dropped, the "Best Rate Guarantee" didn't work as it is supposed, because all they did was comparing the current starwoodhotels.com price with 3rd party's, while the prices are changing are synced on both, so they can be protected without losing anything.
However, this policy leaves SPG member only disappointed and frustrated, just because they booked early and have price locked, they will not only lose the flexibility of changing but also give the "Best Rate Guarantee" up.
What you guys think?
This is the chance you take with purchasing an advance pre paid rate. IIRC, you can't do a BRG on a starwood booking.
Look outside the box, if the rate
INCREASED would bring this up and would you be voluntarily be willing to pay more? We cannot have it both ways.
I have to find the thread, but I do remember someone saying they were allowed to change the rate of their reservation when the encountered the same situation.
Found it:
Will Westin reduce a prepaid rate when lower rates are released?
