I'm not worried about the return flight (if I get bumped I'll just get home later), but I am worried about my departure flight.
When I go to the seat selector on AA's website, I am unable to select any seat except for a few paid MCE seats. Should I be worried about getting bumped from this flight? I do not currently have Elite status. The booking code for that flight is L.
The last time I encountered this, I got a seat assigned upon check-in. I wasn't too worried since it was a personal trip. This is a business trip though, and I just want to make sure I won't get bumped.
This is very common after MCE was introduced. At check-in, all seats will be fair game. Prior to that, seating is limited to non-elite's to encourage you to pay for MCE.
I guess there's always a remote chance you could get IDB'd, I'd not worry one bit if I were you.
