There is a thread on this topic, but its a couple years old and this type of info tends to be antiquated quickly. I am arriving in Rio via GIG next week. I have an unlocked iPhone 5S. I'm looking for a pre-paid data only micro sim with maybe 1-2GB of data for my week stay. I do not have any Brazilian residency. Is there anything available in the airport, or in Ipanema that I can purchase using my passport? If so, estimated prices? I do also require tethering/hot spot for use with my laptop.

Another option is to buy a month of Tmobile prepaid and use their free international roaming, but the speed is a bit difficult to live with. Thanks.
