Looking at the flight schedules, the only other "DL" option to KOA is DL from SFO to HNL departing SFO at 3:00 pm then connecting to an HA flight that arrives in KOA at 7:35 pm (well, for the day I looked - the schedule might varry slightly). Not much of a difference but if you want to stick with DL, it's the only "earlier" option.
Delta would rebook on HA if it was a same-day delay/cancelation caused by the reasons you mentioned. Their partnership isn't relevant when dealing with IROPS only whether they have a ticketing agreement (which they do).

Delta won't rebook on the option you suggested in advance as there is an HA segment and they won't rebook on OALs for advanced schedule changes. OP can either accept the option provided by Delta (occasionally they can rebook on codeshare) or get a refund and purchase a ticket on another carrier.
