I had deliberately schedules this portion of my RTW to get me to Tokyo for the second annual Japan DO.

The post will be mostly pictures showing some of the things we got up to on the DO.

On the first full day NewbieRunner took us on a walk through Shinjuku starting with a trip up the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building to the 45th floor observation area.





There were some paper art display on the floor.



The view was from up there.


We then proceeded to walk around the Shinjuku area which is a mix of modern office buildings and old narrow lanes.











We happened upon a shrine/temple (not sure which) somewhere in the middle of it all.







We bought some lunch and took it to Shunjuku Gyoen gardens.













The next activity I attended was the DO dinner in the basement of an eatery in Shinjuku.



Oops someone ate all the sashimi.









The following day was a day trip to the Kamakura area.







We visited the Tsurugaoka Hachimangu shrine.













Next we caught the Enoden line train to Hase.



We walked to the Hasedera Temple temple and had lunch there and wandered the lovely gardens.























Next on the agenda was the Great Buddha.

















Finally we took the train out to Kashigoe where we walked from there up to Enoshima and the lighthouse.



























Here was where I ended my participation on the DO. I met up with a friend from work how happened to be in Tokyo for lunch the next day. He used to work in Tokyo and he took me to one of his old haunts but unfortunately no photos of that one.
