The current rate is extremely good, especially if you need to go for quite a distance.

For PEK, the flat rate covers any place within the 5th Ring Road. In Shanghai, it covers the whole "city" locations from SHA or PVG.

The best part is there is nothing to pay on the day, all pre-paid through Ctrip.

This promotional rate will finish by 30th June 2014, because Ctrip is paying the drivers extra to get customers to use their service. From July, it will be a flat starting rate, plus x RMB/KM rate.

If you decide to use their service (which I did a couple of times recently), just be aware, they are not taxi - they are private hire (or just a totally private car with its owner as driver) with personal insurance, not taxi/business insurance. Service level normally is good.

The main difference is, Ctrip will send you a text message few days before your arrival, with the driver's name and mobile number (mine all in Chinese), it's up to you to contact the driver on arrival and arrange where to meet (normally is outside the departure floor, not arrival - so the driver don't have to pay for parking in the airport.
