I use a Swissgear backpack for my carryon. It hold all my necessary items. I bought it because it holds my 17inch laptop as well.

It has a elastic net pocket in the front compartment that was perfect for smartphones. It held them tight and secure and it was easy to access.

My issue is I recently purchased a monster phone or Phablet. It sort of fits, but its tight and sticks out alot

Do any backpacks, have a larger cell phone compartment? Not just another sleeve or pocket. But something that holds it from falling out when pulling pack in and out of overheads. something made for larger smartphones.

I am willing to give up a 17inch laptop sleeve, since I use my phone most of the time anyways.
