4500 miles is probably going to be too short for the goal. Your best bet is a mileage run if you want to make SL. From SAN, AA has direct flights to both Miami (AA1042) and JFK (AA66) that would probably do the trick, maybe try pricing those out. Just make sure your fare code is high enough to count towards MPO status.

CX also has lounge redemptions if you have enough Asia Miles, but I don't know if that will work in LAX since the lounge is not operated by CX. Might be something to look in to.
