I am looking at purchasing a pre-paid data nano-sim to use in my iPhone for upcoming travel to Japan.

Are these vending machines the way to go, or can I buy one ahead of time and have it sent to my hotel (as I am doing in Korea)? Otherwise, is it very easy and quick to pick one up somewhere in Kyoto (flying into KIX).
