Wife took her Iphone which sucked data like a sponge. Think it was status updates?
Anyway, considering the money spent on flights, lodging and food, a 1-200 bucks for data seems like small change. And it was nice knowing that if a stateside emergency arose (92 year old mother for example), I would be an easy phone call away.
Wifi is pretty common in Beijing, Shanghai and of course Tokyo, so why sweat mobile data so much?
Do you also have the AT&T roaming package for Call and TXT? I couldn't figure out a way to turn on Cellular data but turn off both Call and TXT on my Android phone. $60 for 300GB is not bad, but what if I start to get like a ton of TXT at whatever rate AT&T charges? For CALLS, I guess I could forward my number to another before leaving the country, but not sure how to do it with TXT.
And for OP, could you just stop the T-mobile plan after you come back to US.. and start it again next time you go oversea? T-mobile doesn't charge activation fee right?
