AFAIK Ready Reserves are part time baggage handlers, check in agents, GAs, etc., not FAs. I interpret the new scheme as a plan to let retired (but requalified) FAs help to board planes and if they agree, even cover some flights, during the busy season. If the cost of requalifying isn't too great or too time consuming, it sounds like a creative win-win to me.
