I think it is probably better if you are British, it has all the charm of walking in to a Bethnal Green hairdresser's salon on bingo night. Personally I don't mind it, last did it LAX to LHR RT which is longer. Time flies by when you are having a natter in the galley with some fellow victims.
My nan's hallway smells more of damp tweed, and re Bethnal green I s'pose it depends what route you're on but I too shall miss the graceful 744... like many here, I've sat on her in a middle seat in economy, old CW, new CW and First but no matter where I've never sworn I'd never fly her again much less BA. Sorry but IMHO there's nothing like an old (preferably public) school British accent to excite one for one's upcoming adventure as a foreigner visiting the Blessed Isles, or to comfort one on his homeward journey from a foreign land. Who amongst us hasn't once returned the smile as we cross the threshold, outbound or in? I say none!
