The AA reps should try them, no problem. Or you could just put the AA and US segments together as a LAX-JFK, MIA-LAX (or whatever) multi-city a2ard, and then call in to add the IB segments. Each one-way with an IB long haul segment will have a surcharge, around 100 PP IIRC.
