Doesn't referring to people without your level of wealth or status as 'kettles' seem a bit misguided and narcissistic? I thought 'kettles' referred to those flyers without loyalty, i.e., exactly those flyers whom it is important for an airline to attract, the 'swing voters' of this industry.
It's less about attracting kettles (less savvy flyers if you will) and more about chasing away savvy business travelers who could account for a disproportionately large percentage of revenue compared to their relatively small population.
