It'll work, but you may consider getting a local SIM card in some of these places if you plan on staying for a longer trip.

Anyways I'm hoping AT&T will drop their roaming voice rates in the future. I already have unlimited roaming data, but could use a drop in the my voice rates. I'm basically roaming 300 days out of the year.
