If you are driving into Venice and staying for more than a day or two, a cost effective option is to park at the airport at their long term parking for 5.5 Euros per day. From there, you can take a water taxi for 15 Euros one way or 27 Euros round trip. It was especially easy for us as the taxi stopped directly in front of our hotel, the Hilton Molino Stucky.
The taxi is only a 3 minute walk from the parking. It’s directly behind my car in the background.

The Blue Line takes you to the front door of the Hilton, but it is a 90 minute ride.

Beautiful Venice on a not so beautiful day.

The next day was our first fully sunny warmish day of the trip. What a relief to be able to walk around without a jacket/sweater.
The hotel rooftop pool was closed due to some remodeling, but we were able to snap this pic from the bar area.

Oops, you dropped something…
Venice isn’t as special as it is with a significant other, as getting a small romantic table for two with your buddy can seem a little awkward. Venice was still great, but time to head out to the Lake Como area.
The roads in Italy were by far the worst of the entire trip. Croatia, Slovenia, and Hungary were far superior, and then you have Germany and Switzerland on a whole different level.
Damage sustained
Our first stop was in Trezzo at the Pizzeria Balognett. The restaurant is run out of the owners home and all of the vegetables are grown in her garden. It was delicious.
From there we drove to Menaggio and took the ferry to Bellagio.

From there, we made the extremely fun drive to Lecco to our hotel the Clarion. Nice view from our balcony.

The next morning was picture perfect.
Time to head to Strasbourg via Switzerland.
I guess you can say there was some nice scenery along the way.

Interesting toilets at the reststop.

I didn’t take many pics because I was driving, but I did stop for a couple.
My 40th country, Lichtenstein.

Beautiful Zurich

Our one night in Strasburg
I was really tired at this point, so I didn’t take many pictures. We did have an excellent meal in Strasburg that was cheaper than our roadside Burger King($16 USD) “value” meal outside Zurich.
The next day we headed back to Munich. I did manage to top out my car at an indicated 160 mph for all of two minutes before we came to a complete stop for 2.5 hours. The drive from Strasburg to Pforzheim to see a friend is only 70 KM, but it took us almost 5 hours!

The traffic from Pforzheim to Munich was much better, save for the constant construction stops. It is something else getting passed rather rapidly while driving 140 mph. Our original plan was to hang around Munich for half a day, but we didn’t get to the Kempinski at the airport until 10:30 pm. Oh well. At least I had free parking at the Loginout car drop off point 100 meters from the hotel entrance.
A virgin no more….
Add on 125.3 miles walked according to my phones very accurate pedometer, I hopped in my seat and almost immediately passed out on my flight home from Munich.
Once again, I have details on everything, but I didn’t want to get bogged down here at work. Feel free to ask any questions. I know if I didn’t type this up rather quickly, I would never do it. I hope you enjoyed.
