We'd like to do the high route as much as possible. Basically, if I understand the guidebook right, if we stay high, the huts are up highest, and if we want nicer accommodations we just hike down lower, sometimes going into town, etc... Is this an accurate general statement?
We will be hiking July 3-11. Do we need reservations at any of the accommodations? We've never hiked Europe before so it is all new to us. I don't expect there to be washing machines at the huts, but if we go to town or one of the better hotels, will we be able to do some wash?
Lastly, my wife will be 5 months pregnant. She is in good physical shape but any reason why she shouldn't do this?
Haven't done this hike but my experience from other huts in Switzerland/Germany is that it's best to check with them first. Some huts do get quite full when the weather's nice.
