I'm annoyed that his visit will make an already difficult reservation that much harder in the future. I assume the Japanese government booked the restaurant before they opened their reservations for April, and the visit did not displace paying public customers who should have priority....and you're probably right about the entourage's lack of appreciation for what was served.
People who go to Jiro just because of the movie are going for the wrong reasons - the movie should only connect existing sushi lovers with an interest in high quality, traditional sushi sourced from local waters and using only the best ingredients, with one of the few traditionalists left running their old-school, small restaurants and who does so for the love of preparing perfect sushi and sharing it with customers who can appreciate the effort.
I'm guessing the essence of the meal was lost on most of the non-Japanese attendees.
