Should not have been difficulty to book you on AC to YUL and then to FRA from there an option. If YYZ was canceled. There are a number of flights from YYZ to FRA so if one was canceled on a revenue ticket there should have been no problem. Whose sock was the ticket issues on, try to deal with them directly. The first airline has the money and that sounds like it would be AC. A warning however unless you have status they can also be mighty unhelpful. The agents in EWR were not able to help? I would be looking for another TA regardless.
I'm on a combo of J and P. YYZ-FRA is on P. YYZ-FRA was on LH 471. I'm *G (UA 1K). I am at EWR and every TA knows what was going on. Every few minutes or so, a TA walks up and hears the story like it was a blockbuster viewing.

I don't want to go economy and apply for a refund. There is a reason I booked in bus. If I wanted to fly economy, I would have booked economy. I've been shunted from one airline to another on many previous occasions (weather, mech, crew etc....), but my class of service has NEVER changed.
