The price ex-SYD is always going to be different from the price ex-LAX. Your main problem is the season as that is pretty much peak inbound into Australia, late Feb you start getting into the shoulder. $1500 ex-NYC is pretty good. You may be able to find something cheaper on FJ or if, and I mean if, one of the majors decides to have a sale you may get down to $1200 ex-LAX or some other starting point that is not NYC but the days of sub $1000 prices to AUS or pretty much over.
