In some hotels, they'll probably deny the upgrade for Platinum members then there'll be an additional option 'Click on begging bowl to try again'. Before such initiatives are introduced, they still need to sort out their website. If I click on Acces and fill in the form that way (not on the main page after logging in) you can't even search for a room. There isn't a dedicated platinum line if there are issues. And Accor Places, though improved, is still touch and go. By all means plan for these things but get the basics right first!
