Why use Google Maps when you can use RMV's own map?

Rather than changing to U-Bahn (U4 or U5) at Hauptbahnhof (which I find very confusing - definitely more confusing than the airport!), you can stay on S8 or S9 to Hauptwache and walk to Römer from there.
