I think you need a course in statistics. A sample of one is not a "very large sample size." If you want to talk time series, I've entered (and exited) Japan hundreds of times, and every once in a while I'll be asked to put my bag on the counter and the guy/gal will go over it, sometimes perfunctorily, sometimes with more zeal.

I put on my "you're wasting my time (and yours)" look and that usually speeds things along.
