Question for the AS MileagePlan experts:

I have a direct flight coming up from Seattle-Medford that I booked using Avios points. Only two direct flights a day, one at 10am and another at 11:10pm (I'm on the 11 and I can't make the 10am). There are flights earlier in the evening that connect via PDX and currently available seats on the SEA->PDX and PDX->MFR legs. I'm MVP Gold. I'm wondering if it's worth it for me to show up at the airport to try to fly standby.

Has anyone had experience flying standby on a different routing than original itinerary, and would it matter that I booked this using Avios points?
