Good post greytop. Another option, especially people traveling with little kids, is to stay at the full service Marriott in Rancho Cordova. It's about a mile from the Sacramento Children's Museum. The children's museum is a great spot for kids under 8 years old or so. The F/s tends to have very cheap rates especially on weekends. Rancho Cordova, though not the nicest area of Sacramento, also has an awesome river front trail, huge park (Hagen), train ride for kids along the river, and little petting zoo. Rancho is sort of the hidden gem for people with little kids.
