Given approved participants undergo a more cursory screening process and those rejected undergo the same security screening process they would if PreCheck never existed, I'm not sure how you could conclude that PreCheck will not make it easier for potential threats to go undetected. The key is that increased risk is quite small and offset by the added convenience to passengers and reduced TSA resource requirements. Perhaps the survey should have asked if that was a worthwhile trade-off. It's a bit like saying an aircraft only having two engines instead of four makes it easier for the plane to suffer a complete engine failure. Completely true, but the added risk is minimal and it's offset by the cost savings of a two-engine aircraft.
Your logic only makes sense if all of the TSA's "enhanced procedures" increase the likelihood of threat detection.
Shoes off, no liquids, computers out, jackets off, belt off, etc. don't do that. Nor do the NoS which have been shown to not even always be effective.
