don't know if Virgin's product would work b/c it's not full lie flat but I know they have some good deals on the premium fare and you could take that from SF-JFK but I don't know when OP is traveling, either. I agree that going into EWR is better b/c the Amtrak station is right there then you can get either regular train or Acela into Providence.
