When you say tour of AUH, I'm assuming you mean the airport, correct? If so, I'm not sure if Etihad could help put that together or not, but I would just shoot an email off to them with the details of what you're hoping for, and see if gets directed to somebody that can help. If it's a tour of the city you're looking for (though I doubt it, given the timing of your layover), then indeed, that's something you'd have to set up on your own.
In general, the point of the chauffeur service is to get you to and from the airport at the start and/or end of your journey. Anything beyond that is probably expecting too much.
I agree with M0hamed above, for 11 hours, I'd get a nearby hotel.

Cohall, thank you for your NICE post! What I was looking for was a connection to some tour company or even local tour guide that would show me around the city/area/highlights of Abu Dhabi (not the airport) and make the best possible use of the time I have there. Given my timing it would have to be a private (yes, I know I would pay :>) tour guide who would start my tour super early, like around dawn, and get me to the airport in plenty of time. I'm not sure it is practical or doable to get any sightseeing in, but thought I could at least investigate. Hate to go through somewhere like Abu Dhabi and not see anything!
I thought the premium lounge might have a concierge who could make a recommendation and perhaps even call the guide/tour company to schedule the tour, that's all.
