I live in Napes but travel regularly throughout the state enjoying all the great resorts we have here.

That said last fall I spent the weekend at our own Ritz Carlton on the Gulf after its complete makeover in summer of 2013. Well, was I disappointed. Public areas are stil very 90s funeral parlour like atmosphere. Room decor was very institutional. Food and beverage pricing was through the roof. I am accustomed to paying $16-17 for a burger in Florida's better resorts like the Breakers. But at the Ritz on the Gulf in Naples it was $21.00! Breakfast buffet for my 4 and 5 yr old grandchildren was $36.00, same price as the adults!

Best resort on this coast without a doubt is the Marrott Marco Island. The beach is the best and the food and beverage operation is ranked #3 in the Marriott chain worldwide. If you want to splurge here the beach lanai rooms are world class.
