Any one of us could die at any time. But since I am 32 I am hoping not to die yet and look forward to another 40+ years of flying.

With an average of, say, 10 CW or F sectors per year I can look forward to another 400 such flights. In that time I will surely have plenty of opportunities to spend my Avios.

My perspective has always been that the FFP game is about minimising the overall cost of 100% J and F flying over many years and a large number of flights. Unless things radically change for me there will be ample opportunity for me to redeem in the future, so now when reward space is scarce I am happy to spend cash.
