Same here - I had confirmed seats with CA for two passengers, both cancelled roughly 24 hours prior to departure, with a mysterious email from United in Chinese, and Rep told me it was done online. United did book me in their own metal.
According to the fraud department, the IP which originated the cancellation was in China...
