About nine months ago, there was a thread that got closed (so I won't link to it) wherein quite a few people shared stories of chip cards getting rejected at merchants in the US, because the merchants refused to insert the chip when prompted to by the machine.

I, personally, have never seen this. The first EMV transaction I've had in the US was yesterday, at Walmart. Nowhere else in my town seems to have EMV enabled.

I'm just curious if this is still an issue? Has this continued to happen?
