Well, if the website is showing phantom space, as it often does (i.e. you see Z1 or Z2 on EF/EK, see the same on AS, but AS cannot book it), and the agents are looking at the website as well, then why aren't they scratching their collective heads in puzzlement when the space comes back as non-existent?

Answering my question because I've spent too much of my life on the phone with these peeps: "Oh, sir, inventory is fluid, so the website is just lagging a bit behind."
