Note that at T1 the EI lounge is after the checkpoint for the UK/IE flights. There's nothing to do or see after that checkpoint. You can buy a coffee or sandwich at the stand near gate 8 or the Wetherspoons in halfway point in the gerbil tubes but that's about it. There are free newspapers and power plugs over by gate 8 as well. It'll still take 10 minutes to walk the green mile to the EI gates from there though.

But there are no restaurants, no luggage stores, no tie stores. You might say it actually looks like an airport.
